Printing Masterclass

Date: Friday 17 April 2009

Time: 10am-4pm

Venue: The Studio Space, Royal Oak Stable Block

Artist(s): Sue Corr

Cost: £45

Spaces: 6 (masterclass runs subject to minimum of 4 participants)

Event Details:

Sue Corr is a printmaker and painter based in her studio at the Royal Oak Stables Courtyard in Betws y Coed. Having gained an MA at Chester University she has gone on to research and lecture there and most recently completed a three month print residency in Quebec City. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally.

Sue's work is about space, light and layers, engaging with the notions of solitude, isolation and fragility. Most of her imagery revolves around snow and ice, this theme being rekindled through the recent winter residency.

Workshop Description:

Making Marks - A Creative Etching Workshop Using Acrylic Resists

This course will be an introduction to the new ‘safer' etching techniques enabling the artist to produce prints of a most painterly nature. Using steel and/or aluminium we will be investigating the possibilities within this process.

We will learn how to:

  • prepare an aluminium or steel plate
  • apply acrylic resists
  • etch in copper sulphate
  • intaglio ink your plate
  • print

You will be provided with extensive notes. Materials are provided.
